A diverse workspace for Tullow Oil

  • 132,000 sq ft
  • Chiswick Park
  • Office Relocation

Tullow Oil needed to combine two offices into one and with over 750 staff, it was a big challenge. Our dedicated team worked in close collaboration with them to ensure that positive communication was kept throughout.

This was one of our largest projects of 2010 and saw us install the equivalent of a Formula 1 race track in cables. Our in-house Mechanical & Electrical team installed an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), Central Equipment Room (CER) with close control air conditioning, a gas suppression system for fire protection and Geo technical Zones with enhanced power supply and supplementary cooling.

Housing an international team

As a global oil company, international guests regularly visit the London offices in Chiswick Park, so the new office design needed to boast a reception that could accommodate visitors and immediately make them feel welcome. The dual reception facility means that all visitors can be greeted on arrival and the seismic wave reception desk creates a sense of arrival for all guests. To tackle the challenge and hit deadlines, 12 of our team worked on-site throughout. This project won the Highly Commended Office Interior London at the UK Property Awards 2011.

Tullow Oil now work somewhere exciting that is fitted with furniture installed by our in-house furniture specialists, designed to showcase the work they do all over the world. In an effort to promote an energy efficient environment, Tullow Oil’s office makes use of green materials and low energy solutions wherever possible. This was something Tullow Oil were extremely passionate about so we collaborated with them to select and specify finishes and fittings that met their criteria.

We created areas for everything the team might need: occupational health, crisis management, breakout sessions, even a theatre. The seismic data that Tullow Oil collects and analyses inspired the architectural design throughout. Extensive meeting rooms were designed over two floors to ensure there was enough space to host clients and other executive visitors. Other additions include an auditorium, localised breakout, self service coffee bars, dedicated lunch rooms and visitors shower facilities. It is an office that is designed to incorporate all aspects of the business.

The whole process from brief through to post project maintenance was managed effectively and diligently with a sense of humour along the way.
