Familiar spaces, reimagined

In DZ BANK’s workplace, existing spaces are enhanced, refining key elements to improve the overall experience. A revitalised reception area invites employees and visitors into the commercial bank’s strategic UK hub. Featuring warm wooden joinery and an abundance of plants, the space is bathed in light from floor to ceiling windows. Vertical wooden slats that run along the adjoining meeting room provide privacy while also softening the transition from the meeting room to the reception, guiding individuals towards the heart of the workplace. A stylish and backlit metal logo immediately establishes brand identity, offering a striking contrast against the soft wooden background.

A newly expanded tea-point and canteen serves as a social hub for DZ BANK’s employees. A bespoke breakfast bar encourages colleagues to gather and engage in conversation. A variety of seating options, including chairs of varying colours, partly inspired by the terracotta roofs of surrounding historical buildings, offer a multitude of options to relax during lunch. Soft bench seating with plush cushions adds welcomed comfort, while the vibrant signature DZ BANK blue wall padding provides both atmosphere and soundproofing.

A working environment rich in employee wellbeing

Employee wellbeing was the primary focus when rejuvenating DZ Bank’s working environment. A multitude of new furniture, collaboratively chosen by DZ BANK and Peldon Rose’s dedicated furniture team, offers employees freedom to decide how they wish to work. Options for dynamic working are facilitated through sit/stand desks, which also promote healthier workplace habits. Huddle booths in contrasting blue and grey enable fluid collaborative teamwork, while single work booths offer opportunities for focused, private work away from desks.

A new hot-desking area, centrally located within the unique U-shaped office, replaces a previously under-utilised space and provides versatility within the workplace. Energetic, bright furniture, specifically chosen by DZ BANK, enlivens the space, creating a contrast with the soft grey walls and seamlessly integrating with the rest of the office.

Welcome to the club

A former storage room now functions as a stylish lounge where employees can relax both during and after work hours. This converted space exudes the atmosphere of a clubhouse for those within the DZ BANK family.

Dark finishes, tranquil blues, and warm wooden details create a cosy, inviting environment, perfect for employees looking to unwind. A classic record player, flat screen TV and well-stocked bookcase offer employees plenty of options to enjoy the new space. Bespoke furniture, including faux leather armchairs and a warm violet sofa provide variety in texture. This new addition not only enhances the office but introduces a completely new setting that didn’t previously exist, offering a unique retreat for employees.

Consideration and sustainability in action

Throughout construction, DZ BANK continued working within the office uninterrupted. This was achieved by construction taking place in two distinct phases, and demolition being kept to a minimum while employees worked, operating after hours and at weekends. This phased construction ensured that DZ BANK remained fully operational and maintained productivity throughout.

The process of construction adhered to stringent sustainability targets, earning the project a SKA Gold Rating. Crucial to this achievement was the local sourcing of materials and furniture, as well as improvements to services such as lighting, including updated LED panels that provide increased energy efficiency. Paired with responsible waste management during construction this ensured the prestigious accreditation and emphasises Peldon Rose and DZ BANK’s commitment to sustainability.
